How to record a song
How to get a qualitive sound
When you are going to a studio you want three things: recording, mixing and mastering. Mastering is 15% of success. This is the final edit of almost finished song. Mixing is 60% of success. And recording is 25%. Throughout the world, the professionals work like this: They record in first studio. Mix in second studio. Make a mastering in mastering studio. I will not explain why but believe me it makes sense. It just so happened that the record itself is not sound. Our sound is bad after recording. It is not ready. It needs final work. It is even more important then recording, in fact, it will determine the final sound of the song. After recording, contact mixing engineer, instead of to make the mixing in the same studio. Send your material after recording. It is easy by internet. Now I work exactly in the mixing studio. I used to work in the recording studio and I know from experience that recording engineers don't pay the proper attention to mixing for reasons of time of payment. For example studio wants X$ per hour. You recorded 2 hours and it will cost 2X. And now you need to mixing and mastering, but that process can take a week. So recording engineer understands that you do not agree to pay 214314123535X. And he will do the mixing and mastering now as fast as he can and you will spend 1X. As a result, you spent 3X and you got pritty bad result. May be not bad but so-so. In a remote mixing studio mixing engineer will spend a week if that necessary and he take 2X for full work. As a result, you spend almost same money, but get serious product. My experience: 13 years at recording and mixing studios, at radiostation for 6 years. I have recomendation Denis Mody (Aerosmith, Prince, Miles Davis, Stanley Clark, the Temptations, the Game, Nate Dogg and 5 hollywood movies) and Ann P. Munday (woman who opened Madonna). I have a full chain of signal from the SSL console. More than half of all American and British hits have been going through this chain. This is not an exaggeration. Just statistics. The main purpose of this paper is not to offer my services. I want finally debunk the myth of recording. Good song especially needs a good mixing. Just recording is not enough. Only with best mixing and mastering we can get that professioanl product to which we all aspire.

Conclusion:
1) The sound directly affects the success of songs, commercials, video products or other audio products.
2) if you do music or production for yourself at home for fun you should not spend the money - learn all over themselves.
3) If you want to do music seriously - be engaged in music. Give it 100% and let engineers will engage your sound. Do not waste yourself in all directions. You'll do everything and maybe even good, but it's not enough to qualify for something really serious. Recordist a.k.a. Recording engineer must do the recording. Mixer a.k.a. mixing engineer must do the mixing.
4) Mastering usually makes a specialized mastering studio. But there are examples of top stars, who makes mastering by the mixing engineer. For example, U2 and their last album.
